The Kenya Tea Growers Association is a dynamic organization in the tea industry, established to promote industry leadership and foster profitable growth in harmony with good corporate citizenship and a sustainable
approach to business.
Its membership is drawn from public and private Tea Companies in Kenya.
The Association seeks to recruit an innovative, dynamic and results oriented professional to fill the position of Executive Officer who will be based at its head office in Kericho.
Executive Officer
The Position
Reporting to the Chairman of the Association, the Executive Officer will provide leadership and be responsible for promotion and coordination of issues of common interest in industrial relations, cultivation & processing of tea, advising on topical issues affecting the industry and implementing the Executive Committee decisions.
 
Key Responsibilities
The jobholder will:
a) Drive and coordinate all negotiations on behalf of the Association; this includes negotiation on Terms and Conditions of employment, Recognition Agreements, Collective Bargaining Agreements and lobby relevant stakeholders on behalf of the Association
b) Provide a strong focal point for a consensual approach to current external challenges and spearhead the Association responses including amongst others; levies, Tea Cess and Legislative developments.
c) Establish, maintain, and strengthen linkages for collaboration and networking amongst members and other stakeholders.
d) On behalf of the Association, maintain close liaison (including official representation where applicable) with key stakeholders such as the Federation of Kenya Employers, National Industrial Training Authority, EATTA and the Tea Board of Kenya.
e) Monitor economic, regulatory and other related trends in order to determine their potential impact on plans and operations of the Association.
f) Develop and nurture business relationships that can be leveraged in order to achieve the Association’s objectives.
g) Establish relationships with all the existing related parties and new parties of interest to the industry.
h) Oversee the overall management of the Association in order to ensure that all key performance requirements are met.
i) Establish appropriate processes and tools for planning, budgeting, reporting and monitoring progress.
j) Monitor the market activities in order to identify new business opportunities.
k) Be responsible for the recruitment, performance management, and identification of training needs and career development initiatives for staff members working in the Association.
l) Monitor, guide, report and coordinate the Association approach to a sustainable CSR strategy. This includes institutions owned or managed by the Association.
 
The person
  • Bachelor’s degree. Qualification and experience in Law and or Human Resource Management is desirable.
  • At least seven (7) years management experience, five of which should be in a Senior Management level in business associations, business advocacy groups or equivalent organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of Kenya Labour Laws, Agricultural Laws, International Labour Standards, Industrial Relations Practice in Kenya, Industry Standards and Trends in the Labour Market.
  • Energetic, entrepreneurial, self driven and of impeccable integrity.
  • Innovative with the ability to identify and harness new and existing opportunities to grow the businesses.
  • Conversant with economic, political and social development issues at national, regional and international levels.
  • Possesses excellent managerial and organizational development skills with the ability to provide focused leadership.
  • Communicates clearly and in a concise manner (both orally and in writing).
  • Possesses strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to network and develop strong business relationship

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for business relationships with IOCs and other related companies in the oil and gas industry.
  • Advices Management on business prospects.
  • Maintain effective working relationships and communications with external customers and suppliers.
  • Extrapolates ideas into product requirements and applying the philosophy of concurrent design to project processes, schedules and budgets
  • Follow through and support the Commercial Manager in the identification of new opportunities in the industry
  • Plan, direct and coordinate projects and programmes to ensure that they meet objectives
  • Ability to deliver projects within the critical path from scoping through to dose-out.
  • Manage (through a combination of document authoring and managing of document authors) a wide variety of project management deliverables including (but not limited to); project manuals / project execution plans, risk registers, project schedules, variation orders, and tracking registers, monthly project reports (MPRs), daily project reports (DPRs), progress meeting minutes etc.
  • Lead and manage the development and implementation of the PEP (Project Evaluation Plan), project set up and close out for each project in accordance to company’s procedures.

1. Deputy Commission Secretary
Programme And Research – (Re- Advertisement):
REF: NGEC/3/2012 – 1 POST
Reporting to the Commission Secretary, the Deputy Commission Secretary Programmes and Research is responsible for developing programmes, undertaking research and monitoring and evaluation;
Duration: Five (5) Year Contract Renewable
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Ensuring preparations, implementation and evaluation of the Commission’s work plans;

  • Have at least 5 – 10 years proven relevant experience at senior management level with demonstrated track record in delivering significant strategic initiatives;
  • Good appreciation and understanding of the Constitution of Kenya 2010;

Reporting to the Commission Secretary, the Procurement Officer will play a critical role in the day – to – day operations and execution of the procurement strategies to enable the procurement department to deliver on its objectives.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement procurement policies and procedures in line with procurement laws and regulations;
  • Ensure that user departments adhere to procurement plans in line with approved budgets;

  • Ensure sound partnerships with suppliers, clients and relevant Government agencies;

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Secretary of the Commission administratively and to the Audit Committee operationally, some main duties include the following:
  • Continually assess and review Risks;
  • Confirming information/reports generated within and outside the Commission;
  • Analyzing operations;
  • Reviewing Compliance;
  • Recommending Controls;
  • Assuring safeguards;
  • Giving Quarterly reports to the Commission;

Qualifications and Experience

Background
Our client is a leader in FMCG / Liquor Industry; owning and operating duty free travel retail shops at airports and seaports worldwide, as well as involving in brand development, marketing, and sales.
The company is headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, operating through a network of offices and warehouses in Africa, Asia, and Europe.
Position: Senior Manager (Retail) — Africa Region
Reporting to: Head of Retail – Africa Region
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Type of Hire: Local
Salary: Gross package of USD 2,000 — USD 2,500 — negotiable, depending on experience and skills
Duties & Responsibilities:
A. Supply Chain & Management
  • Control stocks at location in line with company’s policy;
  • Ensure that SCM team delivers as per the requirement and on a timely basis;
  • Monitor logistics for Africa locations.
  • Minimize costs to ensure best prices;
  • Order tracking, to ensure lead times are met and adhered to;
  • Coordinate with all relevant departments to ensure optimum productivity and manage lead times to location.
B. Stock Management
  • Costing, pricing and controls.
C. Retailing
  • Sales forecast for financial year for all Africa locations;
  • Day to day operations management and improvement is affected;
  • Floor and space planning is affected and well managed at locations;
  • Professional maintain merchandizing and display;
  • Branding;
  • Enhance location layouts and monitor on regular basis;
  • Ensure regular maintenance is carried out at location and visibility and appearance of all shops are in sync with the vision and master plan;
D. Projects
  • Feasibility Planning for new stores;
  • Market visits for understanding new store potential;
E. Controls
  • Generate MIS to control operations from Africa HQ
  • Pricing of products and periodical review with regional and local price points;
  • Analyze data sent by locations and authentication of sales declared by them at POS and back office;
  • Generate new MRM reports and present to Management; query locations on any anomalies and institute relevant mitigation on monthly basis;
  • Regular monitoring of the GP at locations;
  • Monitor Grid Sales report on daily basis. Mid-month report to be generated location wise to understand adherence to budgets.
  • GAP analysis to be conducted in case of deviation at respective locations.
F. Human Resources
  • Coordinate with HR and Operations Manager for recruitment or interviews;
  • Ensure implementation of induction programme and training schedules for new managers at locations;
  • Handing of any relevant HR issues of Operations Team and Managers.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification; MBA preferred;
  • Minimum of 7-15 years work related experience;
  • Strong background in FMCG / Commercial Department an added advantage;
  • Proven experience in a similar role;
  • Project Management skills an added advantage;
  • Demonstrated exceptional people management and leadership capabilities;
  • Interest to work in a diverse environment with different cultures;
  • Results-oriented senior professional requiring minimal supervision;
  • Excellent analytical, logical reasoning and creative problem solving skills;
  • Strong organizational, documentation & planning skills;
  • Customer Service focus with ability to create impact and influence;
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, negotiation skills;
  • Comprehension and development of complex business issues, topics, and plans;
  • Passion For quality and an eye for strategic insight.
